Short version (DRAFT — pending legal review; not yet in force)
- Kidbys is a calm, kind gallery for children's own artwork. Upload only original art made by the child it is credited to.
- Never include a child's real name, school, address, location, contact details or other identifying information, in the art, the title or the background of a photo.
- Every upload is screened automatically before it can go public. A trained person reviews anything flagged, anything reported, and every appeal.
- Anything sexual involving children, grooming, threats, hate, scams or malware is removed, and serious cases are reported to the authorities.
- See something wrong? Use Report in the app, or email [email protected] (child safety) or [email protected] (illegal content notices).
Effective date: EFFECTIVE DATE
These guidelines form part of our Terms of Service and apply to everyone on Kidbys. Our Child Safety Standards set out our zero-tolerance approach to child abuse.
1. What Kidbys is for
Kidbys celebrates children's creativity without competition. There are no public like counts, rankings, follower totals or sales totals anywhere a child or the open gallery can see. We want every child to feel safe, and every adult to feel they are dealing with real families.
2. What you may upload
Agents may upload and publish:
- original artwork made by the child whose profile it appears on: drawings, paintings, collage, sculpture, crafts, digital art and similar;
- photographs of that artwork;
- a title and short description that do not identify the child.
Children may add private drafts of their own artwork in their Artist area. Drafts are visible only to the child and their Agent. Only the Agent can submit art for publication.
3. Keep children unidentifiable
Before you publish, check the artwork, its title and description, and the background of the photo. Remove or crop out:
- the child's legal name, surname or signature where it shows a full name;
- school names, uniforms, team or club names, trophies or event names;
- house numbers, street signs, car number plates, recognisable landmarks near home;
- phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, links or QR codes;
- documents, screens, or anything else with personal details;
- the child's face, unless you have deliberately chosen to show it and understand it will be public.
We strip location and camera data (EXIF/GPS) from every upload, but we cannot remove what is visible in the picture itself.
4. What is not allowed
We remove, refuse, or escalate content or behaviour that includes:
- Child sexual abuse or exploitation: any sexual content involving or appearing to involve a child, sexualised depictions of children, grooming, sextortion, or attempts to obtain sexual material. This is reported to the authorities. See Child Safety Standards.
- Serious harm: credible threats, encouragement of self-harm or suicide, trafficking, or instructions for causing physical harm.
- Illegal or dangerous activity: facilitating crime, weapons misuse, dangerous challenges, or evading safety controls.
- Bullying, harassment and hate: humiliation, slurs, dehumanising content, targeted abuse or threats against anyone, especially protected or vulnerable groups.
- Personal information: anything listed in Section 3.
- Impersonation and deception: pretending to be someone else, fake staff claims, false family or custody claims, art not made by the credited child, or AI-generated images passed off as a child's work.
- Spam and scams: adult commercial solicitation, misleading sale claims, counterfeit offers, payment diversion, or pushing people to deal off Kidbys.
- Malicious files: malware, hidden payloads, corrupted or oversized files designed to disrupt our systems, or metadata intended to reveal private details.
- Infringement: copyrighted characters or other people's work copied wholesale where it cannot be published safely, trademarks used to mislead, or other people's private images. Children often draw characters they love; fan art made by the child is assessed case by case. See our Copyright & IP Policy.
5. Content that needs extra care
Some content is not automatically refused but always gets careful human review:
- images involving swimwear, bathing, sleepwear, medical settings or injuries;
- art depicting violence, horror, distress, self-injury, substances, weapons or adult themes (a child's battle scene or monster drawing is usually fine; a person will look at it, not just a machine);
- anything suggesting a location, a school, or a family's identity;
- repeated borderline uploads, coordinated reports, or behaviour suggesting evasion or grooming.
6. How moderation works
- Upload. Files go to private storage. We check the file type, size and integrity, scan for malware, and strip location data. The original is never public.
- Automated screening. Every upload is screened automatically before it can be published. Clearly unsafe or malicious files are blocked. Possible violence, self-harm, bullying or hate is flagged for a person, never auto-blocked. Content suggesting child sexual abuse is immediately contained and escalated under our Child Safety Standards.
- Human review. Trained reviewers handle flagged uploads, user reports and appeals. Serious or uncertain cases get a second reviewer.
- Decision. Approve; approve once edits are made; reject; limit visibility; suspend publishing or account features; or escalate to our child-safety, security or legal team.
- Statement of reasons. When we act against content or an account, we tell the Agent what we did, the rule or law it relates to, the facts we relied on, whether automation was involved, and how to appeal. Children never receive rejection details.
We aim to review flagged uploads within 24 hours and ordinary reports within 2 business days during staffed hours. If we cannot keep up safely, we slow or pause new publication rather than skip review.
7. Reporting
Anyone can report content or an account, even without a Kidbys account.
- In the app: use Report on any artwork or profile.
- Child safety, urgent: [email protected]. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
- Illegal content (EU Digital Services Act notices): [email protected]. See our DSA information page for what to include.
- Copyright: [email protected]. See our Copyright & IP Policy.
We confirm receipt of reports, review them, and tell the reporter the outcome where we can do so safely. We may disregard reports that are clearly unfounded or abusive, and may suspend the reporting ability of people who repeatedly send them.
8. Appeals
If we remove your content or restrict your account, the Agent or account holder can appeal from the app (Privacy & Data, appeals) or by replying to our decision email within APPEAL WINDOW — at least 6 months for EU users. Every appeal is decided by a person, not by an automated system, and where staffing allows by someone other than the original reviewer. See our DSA information page for further options.
9. Enforcement and repeat violations
We consider the severity of a violation, intent, history and risk to children. Serious violations, especially anything involving child exploitation, lead to immediate permanent removal and reporting. Repeated lesser violations lead to escalating restrictions, from feature limits to suspension and closure. We may also cancel sales and withhold payouts linked to violating content where the law allows.
10. Features not yet available
Child comments, friends, chat and video are not available on Kidbys. If they are ever introduced, they will be off by default, controlled by the parent, and covered by updated guidelines.
