How to Delete Your Account and Data

Step-by-step instructions for deleting a Kidbys account or a child profile, in the app or by email, and exactly what is deleted, what is kept and for how long.

DRAFT — pending legal reviewVersion 0.1-draftLast updated 2026-10-01

Short version (DRAFT — pending legal review; not yet in force)

  • In the app: Profile > Privacy & Data > Delete your account.
  • By email: write to [email protected] from the email address on your account. You don't need the app installed.
  • You have 72 hours to change your mind. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
  • If you are a parent with child profiles, transfer or delete each child profile first, so no child is left without a responsible adult.
  • Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google must be cancelled separately in your device settings.
  • A few records must be kept by law, such as accounting records of sales. They are linked to an anonymous placeholder, not to you or your child.

Effective date: EFFECTIVE DATE

This page explains how to delete your Kidbys account (operated by LEGAL ENTITY NAME) and the data linked to it. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.

1. Before you start

  • Download your data if you want a copy: Profile > Privacy & Data > Your data > request an export. The export is available for 72 hours.
  • Cancel app-store subscriptions. Deleting your Kidbys account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google. Cancel it in your iPhone or Android subscription settings.
  • Finish open orders. If you have an order in progress as a buyer or seller, we keep what is needed to complete it, ship it and pay for it, and finish the deletion afterwards.
  • Unused Sparks are cancelled when your account is deleted and have no cash value.
  • Child profiles (Agents only). Transfer each child profile to another verified parent or guardian (Manage Artists > transfer), or delete it (see Section 3), before deleting your own account.

2. Delete your adult account

2.1 In the app

  1. Open Kidbys and go to Profile.
  2. Tap Privacy & Data.
  3. Under Delete your account, tap Delete and add a reason if you like.
  4. Confirm with your password, or with Sign in with Apple or Google if that is how you sign in.
  5. You will see the request with its scheduled date and the 30-day completion deadline. You can cancel it there within 72 hours.

2.2 By email (no app needed)

Email [email protected] from the address registered to your account, with the subject "Delete my account". If you can't use that address, tell us and we will verify your identity another way. We will confirm when the request is received and when it is complete.

3. Delete a child profile (Agents)

Email [email protected] from your account email with the subject "Delete my child's profile" and the child's display name. We will verify your identity and custody, then run the deletion.

Alternatively, to stop public display without deleting anything, withdraw Public gallery display consent under Privacy & Data > Consent records.

4. What happens and when

When What happens
Immediately Your request is recorded. You can cancel during the next 72 hours
After 72 hours Erasure begins. Public traces are removed first
Within 30 days of your request Erasure is complete and we confirm each step

You can see the outcome of every step (completed, retained with the reason, or held with the reason) in the app while your account is still accessible.

5. What is deleted

5.1 Your adult account

  • your public profile and display name;
  • every sign-in session, refresh token, verification and password-reset token;
  • push notification identifiers, queued notifications and delivery records;
  • your list of followed artists;
  • analytics identifiers;
  • search and cache entries referencing you;
  • your email address, name, password, linked Apple or Google sign-in, and your link to our identity-verification provider.

5.2 A child profile

  • the child's public profile and display name;
  • every picture-code sign-in, device credential and pending custody transfer;
  • all uploaded artwork and every derivative (thumbnails, previews, print files);
  • the child's public web page, which is purged and rebuilt;
  • search and cache entries;
  • expired private media;
  • push identifiers;
  • other adults' records of following the child;
  • the child's badges;
  • analytics identifiers;
  • the child's legal name and date of birth, if we held them.

6. What is kept, and why

Record Why it is kept How long
Accounting entries for purchases, sales, fees, refunds, Sparks and payouts Required by tax and accounting law, and for disputes and chargebacks. They reference an anonymous account, never your name or your child's RETENTION — financial records
Custody history (which profiles were in whose care, and when) Keeps accounting and care history valid. Contains no name, image or contact detail RETENTION — custody history
Records under an active legal, financial or safety hold Only the specific data the hold concerns, with the reason shown to you. Each hold lasts no more than 90 days unless renewed for a documented reason Until the hold is released
Moderation decisions, statements of reasons and appeals Legal obligations under the EU Digital Services Act and for safety RETENTION — moderation records
Evidence preserved for a report to child-safety authorities Required by law As the law requires
Data held by our identity-verification and payment providers Those providers keep some data under their own legal obligations (for example Stripe's anti-money-laundering duties) Under the provider's own privacy policy
Backups Encrypted backups are overwritten on a rolling basis BACKUP RETENTION PERIOD

A hold on financial records never keeps a child's profile or art publicly visible: public traces are always removed first.

If a child profile has a sale in progress, its custody arrangement stays open only until that order is finished, and then closes automatically.
